When: Saturday, January 9 | 11:30am-2:00pm Where: Court One Athletics Cost: $40/team ($20/person)
Triple Ball Tournament Format
Same format as Exchange Tournament (see italicized text below), except each “big point” will be a series of 3 balls:
First, a serve from a team that earned the previous big point
Then a freeball to one team (entered by a coach)
Followed by a freeball entered to the other team.
Whichever team wins best 2 of the 3 points will win the big point. This format helps create more rallies and thus more opportunities for competition and improvement, as serving and receiving a serve are both difficult skills at this age.
Exchange Tournament Format
How it works:
Standard pool of 4 teams (8 players) per court. However, all 4 teams will play each round 4vs4 (2 on the court at a time). Essentially, it’s double-sided Queens. If you win, you and your partner stay on; if you lose, you swap out with the other team on your side, but the 4 of you are still working together and still score your points together.
Each team will play a round with each other team in their pool – Game 1: 1/3 vs 2/4 – Game 2: 1/4 vs 2/3 – Game 3: 1/2 vs 3/4
After 3 rounds, teams will be repooled: Top 2 teams from each pool in one pool (pool A) and bottom 2 teams in each pool in the 2nd pool (pool B). They will then repeat the process in their new pools (3 more games).
