15 Platinum Head Coach - Kristi King

Kristi is a local AZ legend with years of experience coaching and competing in the Valley! She has coached at elite volleyball clubs in the East Valley since 2007, successfully leading her teams to Region championship and top five finishes, as well as earned bids to the USAV GJNC. Most recently, Kristi was at the helm when Club One 14Platinum won a USAV National Championship and finished ranked 41st in the nation for all 14U teams. Kristi also served as the JV head coach at Desert Vista High School from 2008-2018, where she notched an overall record of 154-34, including two undefeated seasons, in addition to helping the program win back-to-back 5A State Championships.

During her high school career, Kristi was a stand-out athlete at Desert Vista, starting on Varsity all four years and racking up numerous accolades, including both Freshman and Senior Athlete of the Year awards. She was actively recruited by universities around the US before deciding to commit to West Virginia University on a full-ride scholarship. Surrounded by great coaches and teammates, Kristi excelled as a starting outside hitter her first two seasons before becoming the program’s first-ever Libero! She still holds a few career records from playing just two seasons in the position. She graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science and again in 2006 with a Master of Science.

As a coach, Kristi consistently ensures that her athletes have the skills, discipline, and motivation necessary to excel at the highest level on and off the court. Her passion, knowledge, attention to detail, enthusiasm, and competitiveness are the driving factors in the success of her teams at both the high school and club levels. Kristi joined Club One in 2020 because it provides the ideal culture of family, community, and competitiveness. Club One athletes and coaches are able to experience more than just volleyball skills and drills—they also learn life lessons through a growth mindset. And no matter what an athletes’ age or skill level, this can make a positive impact.

When not in the gym, Kristi enjoys traveling and spending time with family and her husband, as well as her two French Bulldogs: Sheldon Cooper and Lois Littles
